Aquanauts live with coral to study acidifying ocean

This blogged by Jessica Leber on Earthportal.org, based on a story from Climatewire (to which you have to get a subscription):

"Four scientists dived down to the world’s only undersea laboratory, 60feet beneath the surface of the Florida Keys, yesterday to study ocean acidification in real time.

Rising ocean acidity levels have been documented by researchers worldwide. How coral reefs, which are among the most fragile marine ecosystems, will react toincreasingly corrosive waters is far less understood, said EllenPrager, chief scientist at NOAA’s Aquarius Reef Base, which the groupwill inhabit for 10 days."
